The Facts

There are 10 accidental deaths every day in the United States from drowning.

Center for Disease Control (CDC) Reports

  • Drowning is the second leading cause of unintentional injury-related death for children under the age of 14.
  • A black child is five and a half times more likely to die from an unintentional drowning than a white child.
  • 11 and 12-year-old black children are 10 times more likely to drown than their white peers.

The Challenge

According to USA Swimming, there is only a 19 percent chance that a child will learn how to swim if he or she comes from a household with parents who can’t swim. But formal swimming lessons can reduce the odds of childhood drowning by 88 percent.

Our Game Plan

How We're Helping

Swimming to Help brings coaches and swimmers together to help our community’s kids gain swimming confidence for life. We provide free water safety clinics and swimming lessons.

Get Involved

Are you passionate about what we're doing? Let us know!  We are always looking for volunteers to help us grow our vision.

Parents often ask what they can do and how they can get their kids involved.  It's pretty simple - even volunteering for one hour can make a big difference.  We partner experienced swimmers  with our program participants.

Thank You

Whether you make a monetary donation, volunteer your time, or spread our mission through word-of-mouth, thank you! We couldn't accomplish our goals without the help of supporters like you.
